Let's see, what's changed with Loden since the last big update. Well, it certainly feels like he has teeth starting to come out. I noticed a few weeks ago some specs of white, but didn't think much of it. It wasn't until Loden bit both grandmothers did we confirm that yes, he is definitely teething. Other signs of such events? Well, he is constantly blowing his cheeks up so make it more comfortable for him to deal with his gums. Also, he's drooling like crazy! He's also crying even though he's dry as a bone and not hungry. It really isn't all that bad, I just hope it doesn't get any worse.
As of yesterday, Loden is more mobile than ever. Since the last post, he was just flirting with trying to move around. He would plop himself forward to only be stuck there due to him not trusting his own body. It's quite funny to watch actually. Since then, he's managed to flow forward and then turn himself around. So, he has managed to go in circles. But yesterday, he's managed to go from the family room all the way to the dining room. It took him a while, but he did it all by himself. He's even more active when you tempt him with something he wants. In that case, he has no fear. The only thing that hasn't changed is his urge to be upright and his need to climb on anything he can get his hands on. Because of his mobility, we finally padded the corners of the fireplace. I can't tell you how many horror stories I've heard where kids have busted their heads on those. Knock on wood.
Oh, I'm not sure if this counts as talking, but he's at the stage where he's picked a sound and repeats it non-stop. Right now, it's a bunch of "da da da da da....da da da." I think his first word will be "dada," what do you think?
Loden is transitioning to taking in formula quite well. It's earlier than we both wanted to quit feeding him breastmilk, but Christina is just so worn out from doing pumping. Six months is pretty good we think and were managing to transition it well, as opposed to quitting cold turkey. So, half his meals are breastfed and the other half, formula. We'll taper that off more and more until he's completely on formula. But on top of that, we're feeding him baby food. So far, we've gone through sweet potatoes and currently wrapping up carrots. Next comes peas. Mmmmm, green mushiness. After vegetables, then comes fruit. Let me tell you, this is by far the messiest experience ever!! Like the say, more of it ends up on him than in him. It takes a very patient person to do this hence Christina doing the lion's share of the work. My job is to keep him distracted so he doesn't get fussy. So yes, expect to see a lot of me dancing around while she feeds him.
Whew, that's all I can think of for now. I hope that helps. By the way, Loden is half a year old. Can you believe it???? He still feels so brand new to us.
