Really struggling with a nickname here. We already picked out Loden early on and it was so hard to keep that secret. Since this baby girl caught us by surprise (what an understatement), we really were not prepared. While we chew on a few names in the next few months, we have to give her a nickname. As you may recall, Loden's nickname was "Roy." We called him that until he came and said hello on his birthday. I suppose the natural choice for a girl is Rory, and now that I'm thinking about it, might not be a bad choice afterall. I'm just sort of bummed that we never got to use Rudiger (Ruh Dee Ger). In fact, since we found out we've been pregnant, that's what we've been calling the new little one. Perfect for a troubling making boy (you'll see why in a bit), but for a princess? Perhaps not.
So, where did the name Rudiger come from? Funny you should ask. Well, you first have to understand the humor that is the Simpsons, rather, pre 1999 that is. Let's see if you Simpsons fanatics remember this one:
| Rudiger | |
| aka Bart Simpson. When asked his name, Bart responds "Rudiger."
Episode: 1F05 Bart's Inner Child Brad: We can all learn a lot from this young man here, this, this -- Bart: Rudiger. Brad: -- Rudiger. And if we can all be more like little Rudiger -- Marge: His name is Bart! Brad: *snaps* His name isn't important! What's important here is that this lad has fully developed ego integrity with well-defined boundaries. Bart: *snoring noises* *Audience laughs* |

Most of you are probably scratching your head, but some of you, at least those that are Simpsons fans, hopefully are laughing a little bit. Either way, I'm stuck looking for a nickname...until I hear something better from the masses or the wife, it might as well be Rory.

Hee. We love The Simpsons :) That would have been an awesome nickname.
Julia was Peanut because we were also surprised by the Girl verdict and didn't settle on a name for a long time.
Dax was Squirt because Dave saw a little onesie that said "Daddy's Little Squirt" and thought it was hilarious. His name's been a given since before we had kids and most people already knew it so once we had Boy confirmation, he became Dax.
I think you need to go with an acronym, you have so many to choose from:
* Lisa Olivia (LOL)
* Allison Lynn (ALL)
Just a couple to start with =)
nicknames? i can give you a long list of it but my favorite is nene or neneng - granny would love to call her first granddaughter that way! bebeng lacks warmth or nining too bisaya! since our little princess is a pina short for pinoy and americana, how about perlette american version of perla. hannah 's not bad though, or rosario - that's still me! - whatever you call her she's gonna be another sunshine to the family. praying for all of you .
